Gone with the wind
Gone with the the wind, I’ve never seen the movie. I do however love the style of lamp from that era. They look so stately and regal to me. My mother in-law has an antique one in a rich green with hand painted flowers it’s absolutely gorgeous. I will try and snap a picture of it and put it up. On another note, I added a small pitcher to my collection. It’s lovely, dainty and floral, what more could a girl ask for?
Yard sale finds for June!
As the weather gets warmer, the sales seem to pop up everywhere. There are a lot of town/village yard sales coming up that I won’t want to miss. I’m on the look out for a glass hurricane oil lamp, and as always a pitcher or ten to add to my collection, any old antique or vintage utensils/rolling pins, blue ball glass canning jars (I have a ton of he clear ones w/bail lids),antique lamp;preferably Gone with the Wind style, old glass medicine bottles, and i think that sums it up! I believe I will have to have a sale of my own just so I will have room to house my new finds!
A gift of flowers
I received a phone call from my 90 something year old neighbor this past Sunday. She called to ask me to come over because she had some flowers for me. I walked over to her house and there she was sitting on her little porch with a bunch of these beautiful peony flowers and a bright as sunshine smile on her face. It is such a great feeling to know that someone was thinking of me. It makes me want to do something kind for someone who is not expecting it. I put some in my bedroom and some in an aluminum pitcher that I had. As a bonus, they smell phenomenal.
Trunk sale!
Happy Saturday! i knew I had to go to the post office this morning and being that it was Saturday, I knew i had to get there early. Â i could not start my morning off right without my coffee indulgence, so two cups later and I was ready for the day. Â On my way to the post office there was a “trunk sale” in the village where I live. When I say trunk sale I literally mean people put all of their items in the trunk of their vehicles and set up shop in a parking lot! Plenty of people showed up to sell their goods and an abundance of shoppers were browsing. It was an interesting concept and quite a fun spin on your typical yard sale. My package was mailed off to its destination so I of course made a bee line over to the sale! I found a “Gone with the Wind” style lamp, 2 vintage sifters, a country wooden star candle holder, a small floral pitcher, a cute silver plated dish that was tarnished beyond recognition ( I polished it immediately), and a crochet doily runner. Overall I think I did pretty well. Â Here are some of my finds:
Painted hutch and milk glass
My painted hutch and milk glass collection
Lilacs,Lily of the valley, and milk glass..oh my!
My bedroom needed some fresh flowers and I decided to showcase them in my milk glass vase. They diffuse the most amazing scent that carries through the whole room, I wish they grew here all year but, unfortunately they don’t so I have to enjoy them while they last!
Forget me not
Here on Broome Street my forget-me-nots are in bloom and are as pretty as ever. They are a perfect shade of blue with a white inner ring and a yellow center, all that in such a tiny flower. When they are grown in bunches or mass clusters they really show case their beauty. I just love them. These self sow so I’m hoping I have more to enjoy next spring!
